106/2011 red glow

106/2011 red glow, originally uploaded by rosipaw.

The winter heather in the balcony box has really had it for this year. It’s totally dry and brittle so that you only need to touch it ever so slightly and it crumbles into dust. But surprisingly, in the longer hours of the evening sun, its faded and winter-washed colours still bring out this beautiful reddish tint, accentuated by a similar tone in the bare tree branches in the background. Their last glory before being replaced by summer flowers.
