HELLO!

I am Sinikka, a language teacher from Finland. Visit my lost in translation blog if you are interested to read about intercultural school projects, English and French learning and teaching, schools in Finland and education in general.

Apart from languages and cultures, I also love travelling – of course! – and during my many adventures around the world I have got more and more keen on photography, too. I am only a dabbling amateur, but I often take my cameras along and snap away at the spur of the moment.

I had never heard about the 365 photo challenge until I read about it in Tania Sheko’s blog Brave new world some time ago. I started following Tania’s threesixtyfivephotos blog of 2009, which inspired me enough to make the decision to take up this challenge for 2010. Following Tania’s example, I have now joined an educators’ group on Flickr, EdTech 365/2010 , and started this blog to write short notes about my daily photos. As my professional blog is on Blogger, I decided to also use this opportunity to try WordPress – even more to learn in the new year, which I so enjoy.

I must admit I am quite apprehensive about managing to keep up with the daily challenge, but at the same time I feel totally intrigued by what this project will bring along. Among other things, I am hoping to learn a lot more about photography and photo editing, as well as finally start using all the fab features my camera – an already old Canon EOS 300D – offers. This year I also bought a compact Canon Power Shot SX200 IS to keep in my handbag at all times.

HAPPY NEW YEAR and wish me luck!
