274/2011 evening calm

Just before sunset. A mirror-like surface of the river. Still enough light to see the autumn-coloured trees on the left bank. A brief moment and atmosphere, digitally captured. Not quite as intense as it looked in reality.

208/2011 evening pink

For some reason, my eyes have been drawn by the sky a lot recently. Tonight, for just a brief moment, the horizon turned really pink. Promising another fine day for tomorrow perhaps?

206/2011 golden evening light

The last low rays of the sun reach our garden in the evening, giving the end of the day a golden warmth. Brief, momentary beauty, and a calming effect to bring a good night’s sleep.

116/2011 falling sun

Striking sunset tonight. The sun like a fireball falling through the blanket of clouds, colouring the sky in warm hues of orange, red and brown.

Somehow the scene looks religious, or a rather stereotypical romantic backdrop to type a twee poem on. Yet, it was what I witnessed with my own eyes, very real, and captivating. A good ending for a good day.

And best of all – this picture was taken at 8.30 pm, and the sun was still quite high – the clouds misleadingly look like the horizon.

087/2011 daylight saving

We are back to official ‘summer time’ although there is still plenty of snow and ice around. But the longer daylight hours are noticeable in the evenings. This picture was taken around 6.30 in the evening, when the sun still kept creating these golden or coppery patterns on our patio. Hopefully it won’t be too long before we will be making full use of the washing line and pegs outside!

047/2011 riverboat

In the blue after sunset light, waiting for guests for dinner at one of the few riverboat restaurants that stay open in winter. The frozen river offered a pretty backdrop to our meal. We even spotted a lonely skier on the ice!

#294 driving in the moonlight

294/365 driving in the moonlight, originally uploaded by rosipaw.

Autumn break allowed me to drive to the countryside, to visit realtives in my childhood village. Always nice to go down memory lane there.

On the way back, the sun set and suddenly the full moon came in sight. The packed bales of hay in the field looked a bit like full moons themselves. By 6.30 pm it was already almost pitch black!
