Like a green waterfall – the different shades of green are really pleasing to the eye. They just emanate vitality, health and energy. And how gently they sway in the breeze!

#80 wow, some colour on the ground!

080/365 wow, some colour on the ground!, originally uploaded by rosipaw.

Sunday challenge:

It’s a new season (Spring up north, Fall down south). Make a photograph that illustrates the change.

Got to be thankful for small mercies at this stage of the year. The greys and browns may seem dull but are still a big change from the even white ground of winter, and a promise of rebirth. Today I really appreciated the textures and colours of the boulder, which in summer will fade in the background unnoticed, with so many brighter colours everywhere.

What is amazing is how these leaves manage to remain green underneath the thick snow cover for so long. (For the gardeners amongst you – it’s bergenia crassifolia.) They are a bit like us sometimes dour northerners, for whom life is rather a serious business almost half of the year. But then spring comes, and brings out our frivolous, carefree selves. I often say that we Finns are a little scitsophrenic by nature – we have very different winter and summer personalities due to the extreme differences in weather conditions and the amount of daylight we have.
