247/2011 persistence

247/2011 persistence, originally uploaded by rosipaw.

To have the persistence of weeds! Despite being constantly pulled out, they keep on sprouting, even throught he bamboo carpet on our patio. Then again, it’s also wise to know when to give up, and direct your energy elsewhere.

227/2011 back to school, originally uploaded by rosipaw.

New growth on the cut tree stumps in the school yard. And hopefully also lots of new budding ideas being born and developed inside the school building. Time to start work again!

It only took a few warm days for the the crab apple buds to start opening. Out of pink buds, tiny white flowers. The annual cycle is a delight, every single time.

143/2011 buds

143/2011 buds, originally uploaded by rosipaw.

A crab apple tree is ready to bloom, with beautiful pink buds waiting to open any minute. This is down the road from our house, and produces tiny little apple like fruit in the autumn, which just stay on the tree, rotting away. I don’t know if they could be used for anything. Probably far too sour – never tried one!

#215 nature’s art on the wall

Daily Shoot sent me looking around our garden for thngs growing there.

How does your garden grow? Make a photo of something growing in your or someone else’s garden today.

I then noticed that our vine had started to spread into our neighbour’s wall a bit. I hope they won’t mind as the shapes of branches and leaves and the negative wall space in between look quite artistic and bring life to the otherwise dull brick wall.

Uncontrolled growth often produces unexpected results. I will remember this when the urge to exert too much teacher and school rule control hits me next school year!

#173 little wonders

173/365 little wonders, originally uploaded by rosipaw.

What makes some of us grow and thrive even when all odds seem to be against us? Is it nature or nurture, or the right combination of both? Maybe it is nothing but a lucky chance. In similar circumstances, many others would have withered away long before blooming.

I wish we could all push towards the light, and reach our full potential, irrespective of the surroundings. We will let this little wild violet have its life on our patio, even if out of place, and enjoy its delicate beauty.
