252/2011 golden leaves

252/2011 golden leaves, originally uploaded by rosipaw.

The evening sun turned the willow golden for a short while. The glow was surprisingly strong, and very difficult to capture in a photo.

241/2011 rowan berries

Lots of them again this year. They add their strong orangy red hue to the autumn colour scheme.

140/2011 almost there

140/2011 almost there, originally uploaded by rosipaw.

The big trees are still waiting to get into full greenery, while the rest of the scenery is already quite uniformly dark green. May is always a wonderful time of fast change – you can almost see the colour schemes transforming in front of your eyes.

126/2011 signs of spring 4

126/2011 signs of spring 4, originally uploaded by rosipaw.

Couldn’t resist this evening light picture of the birch trees next to our house. This stage of small leaves will be gone so soon.

120/2011 precious lime green

120/2011 precious lime green, originally uploaded by rosipaw.

The fleeting few days of lime green, before the leaves grow and turn darker, creating an evenly coloured landscape. Precious days of wonder!

115/2011 anticipation

115/2011 anticipation, originally uploaded by rosipaw.

After a long colourless period, strong spring colours attract the eye. The sepia of the trees against the dark turquoise sky, for example. Great anticipation of the burst of green leaves lingers in the air.

112/2011 spring floods

112/2011 spring floods, originally uploaded by rosipaw.

We don’t normally have huge big floods in our part of the country but, after so much snow in the past winter, there has been some flooding here and there.

In this little wood of birch trees, the flood by the roadside created quite a mysterious landscape.

110/2011 rushing

110/2011 rushing, originally uploaded by rosipaw.

This birch tree was beautifully lit by the evening sun, so I rushed to get my camera to catch it. Unfortunately, the sun had just disappeared before I got out, and in my rush I managed to shake the shot, too. Oh well, teaches me to take it easy, and focus properly next time, especially if it is the only picture I manage to get that day!

072/2011 more layers of approaching spring

Frost at night, and thaw during the day keep alternating at the moment. This morning, most of the deciduous trees were covered in thin white frost, soon melted, though, by the warming daytime temperatures. The reddish branches of the willow trees in the foreground have a distinct promise of the change of seasons. Soon, I hope!

#212 oh no, not yet!

212/365 oh no, not yet!, originally uploaded by rosipaw.

Last day of July, and what do I see! Some yellow autumn leaves already. And there was definitely a slight whiff of autumn in the breeze this afternoon as well – or maybe I was just imagining it.

Inevitably, back to school is also creeping into my mind, as the last holiday week is about to start. I don’t feel I’m quite ready yet but I’m going to make the most of the last free days, and hope that will work wonders to get me back in the working mood again.
